The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I'm in a questioning mood today and maybe this is the answer...always taking the road less traveled. I'm chuffed you've visited here, I've visited there too. Which city are you in exactly?

Nevermind, i've just read Dublin. Course I've been there loads. A couple of years back I worked in a pub called Rashers Geraghty, do you remember it, no longer open but was just off Grafton Street.

Hi Spoon

I saw that poem on someone's blog and posted it as a reference to decisions I've made in the past really. All turned out well thankfully. I love reading it though (did it actually answer something for you? Fascinating!) I suppose the thing is, you are better off regretting something you did rather than regretting not doing it!

Rasher Geraghtys sounds familiar! But as I'm one of the few Irish people who doesn't drink, I'm not overly familiar with pubs!
Went to South africa in 2003 with my Dad on a safari/ tour around. We started in Johannesburg (spelling?) and went on to Pilgrim's rest, Kruger for safari and back to Durban. Loved it all. I only went as my Dad was too ill/ old to go alone. I wondered if the cities were as dangerous as we had been led to believe. Never really found out as the hotels would not let us venture anywhere without a security guard with us so we didn't go far.
We never got to Cape Town which everyone says is the most beautiful part.
Myself and my husband would like to go over to run the Comrades marathon, maybe in a couple of years.

Hi

Comrades is an 'institution' here. You should definitely try to come for that. I remember waking up at 4am as a child to watch the start of the race. On TV, cause I live in Johannesburg.

I find that hotels make it out to be worse than it is...guess with our crime rate, they're erring on the side of caution but they freak tourists out and then they don't end up having a great experience. Drives me crazy. Cape Town is beautiful, more for the tourist there, Johannesuburg is better if you know someone here.

The poem did get to me, think it was the pensive mood i was in that day!

Hey, how did you get in to long distance running?

Hi Spoon

I blogged about my first marathon here
http://aislingsblogpage.blogspot.com/2006/12/reasons-for-running-my-first-marathon.html
and that's how it all started initially. After only 3 marathons I decided to try a 39.3 mile race in the West of Ireland and loved every minute of it. I consider myself a lazy runner, I like to go slow and be comfortable, which suits long distances. That was in 2005 and I ran it in 2006 also and this Sunday is my third time at that race so am getting nervous again now. I've done other long distance events too but love this one. Website here http://www.connemarathon.com/splash/intro04.htm

(too lazy this morning for hyper links, sorry!).

I have other like minded running friends and I set up a blog for us at http://ultrarunners.wordpress.com/.

Do you run at all?
I read your post about 'hope' yesterday and tried to comment but was unsure as to what to say! It had me thinking all day! Which is the sign of what a good blogger you are! Thanks for that!
